hi :}
hello. friends, i hope you're doing alright. it's been a while.
i recently returned from a trip visiting my family in malaysia and sri lanka. it was the first time i've been back in 10 years and i'm so glad i got to go. i played my first international gig (thank you to the ipoh fine arts society for having me), reconnected with so many people, and ate 10 years worth of delicious food.
now that i've returned, it's back to the folk music grindstone. i don't know what 2026 will bring creativity, but i hope to spend more time in the studio and on the stage (guess who's almost done writing her vampire album??)
I also wanted to say that since coming back, I have felt such an intense sense of connection and solidarity with my community here in Seattle. Whether it's from friends or strangers, I am so grateful that I get to experience it. This sense of connection doesn't stop the sorrow and fury that I also feel, nor should it. The evils of ICE, U.S imperialism, and fascism are omnipresent. But in the past few months I have the privilege of connecting with both my distant family and my local community, and I have found those experiences incredibly life-affirming and deepening of my belief in the importance, efficacy, and possibility of solidarity.
Thank you to everyone who came to the 2/5 Sudanese Women's Benefit Show at Blue Moon!
Thank you to my friend Crash for organizing this beautiful show raising money for women affected by violence in Sudan. The other artists Ahmen, Aunge, and Diana Faye were all incredible and together we were able to raise over $200 for Human Appeal's Sudan Emergency Appeal. I felt very touched spending the evening in community with so many people who cared deeply about the beauty and responsibility of art. I've linked the organization if you have the ability to give.
Vampire Songs at Conor Byrne
a few months ago, i had a wonderful experience at my first ever conor byrne open mic performing two (out of six) of my vampire songs - and i hope you like them as much as i do :)
What's Next?
i will hopefully have more mirabai news (upcoming shows, etc) coming shortly. My 2025 record Everybody Still Loves You is still stellar and still available to stream and maybe what's next for you is that you give it a listen today - again or maybe for the first time?
