Fool Me Twice
Fool Me Twice is THE spite song. Right after I recieved a comment about how I “couldn’t write a love song I opened a google document, titled it “I Can Write a Love Song Fuck You”, and decided to just start writing what was on my mind until something salvageable came out. The first thing I wrote was “I don’t know how to write a love song, I barely know how to be in love”. And I kinda liked that so I kept going. It’s a song about recognizing that the person you like is kind of an ass, or at least never going to like you back. It’s about finding a sense of masochistic peace with this: go ahead and break my heart, it’s not like I had anything else better to do today ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. It’s about the endless cycle of a person being awful to you and you continuing to somehow believe they’re a good person. But it’s not you telling off that person, it is a love song to them. It’s a song about consenting to having your heart broken.
