Guyyyys! I’m so excited to announce that Rosaline, the second official single off my album, is coming to all platforms on April 4th! That’s insane! And so soon! And also, I realized after setting the date, Easter! I feel like listening to an indie-folk/pop-punk fusion song (or at least, that’s how one of my friends described it) about an underappreciated Shakespeare character is a pretty good way to spend the holiday.

I wrote this song wayyyy back in the spring of 2019. It’s about Rosaline, who (for all you non-Shakespeare-dorks out there) is Romeo’s unrequited love interest at the beginning of Romeo and Juliet. Rosaline not only has no lines, she actually never even appears on stage. She’s pretty much a non-character. But still, I found a way to overly identify with her. With the feeling of being replaced and not being enough for somebody. The song started off as a classic-Mirabai-folksy-cryfest, but with the help of Matt “Sabyu” Sablan (who wrote the chords for and produced this song AND was the first person I ever showed it to), Zoser Dunbar (who played guitar on the track and added his own special touch), Grafton “Skid Mark” Downs (who played bass and elevated the song to a whole new level), and Olivia Green (who played drums and gave so much life to the track), Rosaline became possibly the happiest (sounding), most upbeat, rock n roll song I’d ever made. And it might also be my favorite. It’s about all my deepest, darkest insecurities, and also it sounds like a party! I love that! And it was made collaboratively with people I love so much it hurts! Pre-save it to make me the happiest girl in the world! I love each and every one of you: please be safe out there! Virtual hugs to you all!
